That is why we created Nine.875; the art initiative aims to give contemporary artists all over Africa a platform in Germany.
In the fall of 2020, Nine.875 had its first and successful gallery opening during the pandemic. The hundreds of visitors within the 30 days of opening far exceeded our expectations due to the fear of the Covid 19 pandemic at that time.
NO MEDIA-BUDGET, NO PROBLEM.
by inviting the right micro influencers, musicians and employing an aggressive word of mouth strategy and good billboard placements. We were able to create more interest than we could actually manage.
Thanks to the support from the Millerntor Gallery, those who couldn’t visit the exhibition could do so through the virtual gallery as well. We were able to display the curated works of 18 artists from all parts of Africa. In the future, we are looking to add more exciting artists to our portfolio.

12 art pieces sold. ranging from 200 to 1500 Euros.

THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE.
The core team consisted of a diverse group of people; From a nurse to a retired social worker to a painter. I was pleasantly reminded of just how far a group goes when a shared vision fuels the people.
I learned that the most crucial part of leading is simply emitting that vision constantly to one another. There are aspects of the team process that now impact how I work with teams on the agency side.
